We didn't really follow our shooting schedule to the exact tee due to actors not being available for certain dates or equipment not being at the right place for the right time. However even though we didn't follow the schedule we still managed to re-organise and get the shooting done.

Green Screen

For the ghost in our two minute opening, we was just going to get them to wear white old fashioned clothing. However, we think it will be better to use the green screen and then edit it into the opening later on in the editing stages. For the green screen to look good we must make sure that the camera angles match up so that when they get put together the scene looks like it goes together.
This means that we will have to change our storyboard, shot types and the script.

We may not be using the green screen now, but using the effect called 'ghosting' on Adobe première pro. This makes anything which moves in the scene have a ghost effect.

We have decided not to use the green screen due to the fact, that we like the modern look of the ghosting effect which we are going to use on all the scenes which the ghost are in, this will help set the mood and tone of the scene each time the ghost is there.

Preliminary Task & Evaluation.

Preliminary Task

Evaluation
For the prelim task we were to film someone walking down a corridor, opening a door and having a shot conversation with someone, we were then to edit it into a short clip. I found the filming, using the camera, easier once we knew how to use the cameras to film the scenes. I found the editing hard to understand at first but much better once I knew and got use to using the editing process.

3 things I learnt during the prelimiary task:-
How to string/edit a series of small clips into one longer clip.
How to do different camera shots and angles.
How to use a microphone (dead cat).

Three things that went well are:-
The filming of the scenes.
The editing to make continuity and match on action.
Editing- the transitions of fading from one part to another.

Three things that could of being improved are:-
The sounds of the chair being dragged across the floor could have being quieter and less sharp.
Getting the people acting not to speak until sat down- which would make it easier to edit.
Not wobble the camera when panning the room.

Ideas which the preliminary task has given for the 2-minute opening:-
Yes, the different transitions which could be used for opening at the beginning. It also gave a sense of match on action, so when filming I will know to film it in a way where continuity can be done easily through editing.

Props, Costume and Location.

Locations.
We are going to set our film in a pub. The opening will be set outside the pub when we introduce the characters, we chose to set it here so it would give the audience an idea of the location of the film. We will then have a scene set in a grave yard to proceed the flashback. Then the flashback scene will be set in the cellar of the pub, this is where the killings will happen, we will also have text come up on the screen on the flashback so the audience know when and where it was set.
  1. The first bit will be outside the pub in Market Rasen.
  2. The second part will be in the pub cellar.
  3. The third part will then be in the graveyard.

Costume.
The characters will be wearing casual clothing for the opening and graveyard scenes. In the cellar scene they will be wearing 90's looking clothing and the ghost will be wearing white and old fashioned clothing. The ghost will be done by the green screen, this should make it more realistic than someone just wearing white clothing, we will then be able to edit it in later on. We must make sure that we get the angles right so when we put them together, they match up correctly.

Props.
The car which the family get out of at the beginning of the opening.
The crates and barrels which will fall and roll during the scene down in the cellar.
The flowers which the older woman will put on the grave.
The rest will be part of the setting, such as the grave from the graveyard part, and the rest of the barrels which will be on the wall in the cellar so will class as part of the setting.

STORYBOARD

As long as we keep to our storyboard our filming should go to plan, it will make it much easier to film as we will know what we have to film and what comes after it so the continuity of our film will be good. It will also help at the editing stages as we will be able to edit the scenes in the correct order which will make things run much more smoothly than they would without a storyboard.

This storyboard ended up being changed as from the first day of filming we didn't have it with us at the time of filming therefore we had to improvise, however because we had already drawn up the storyboard and it had being done recently we were able to remember parts of it and get the shots in the right order and the correct way.
