Film Analysis - Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix.

Mise-en-Scene
Costume: Casual for the teenagers. Big black cloaks for the dementors with a mask-represents their character, this costume automatically makes the audience realise that these are stereotypically the 'bad guys'.
Lighting: ... see lighting section ...
Actors: Young actors - teenagers.
Make-up: None, they are teenage boys so the only make-up would be for acting purposes.
Props: Newspaper, Wand, Rubbish on the floor. - These help set the scene of the park.
Setting: Open park area, and then an alleyway. The park is a great open space and the character feels isolated with no-one of his own kind around him, and then in the alley-way it is much more compacked which highten the tone-this is dramatic.

Editing
First shot fades in.
Normal cuts-to help with the continuity of the film.
Match cuts.
Match on Action.
These shots to start with are slow, this is so your pace is low/normal as not much action is happening, it also helps you follow the story-line. As soon as the action begins the editing becomes much quicker which sets a much faster pace - almost paniky - this helps set the tone of the next scene.

Lighting
High Key lighting when in the park.
Low Key lighting in the alley way to create suspence.
The high key lighting is due to the fact that everyone is safe and nothing is going terribly wrong. When there is more danger the lighting changes to low key, this helps set the tone but it also involves the audience in feeling more anxious about what could be about to happen, it makes them ask questions -enigma- this keeps them hooked to the film and is very effective.

Camera
Extreme long shot at the very begining to set the scene.
Titling shot from horizontal to an ariel shot.
Mid shot of the main character-helps show emotions.
POV
These camera shots first help set the scene which helps you understand the story-line more, the tilting shot involves the audience as they think they are going into the scene to observe, this means they feel the emotions of the film more -lonelyness, anger, sadness, panik- so they feel connected and carry on watching. The mid shots are to show the emotion of the people, and so you will recognise them later on in the film. The POV is again to involve the audience so they feel as though they are part of the action.

Sound
Diagetic: Radio - which makes it sound like a normal day and sets the mood of the begining.
Dialogue, The "blinking" of the lights, The "rattling" breath of the dementors.
Non-diagetic: Music at the begining is
Also at the beginning is the theme tune, which is used in all of the Harry Potter films so when people hear this they automatically recognise the film it is from.
All of these noises help set the scene, however some of them are put at the beginning so that later in the film when the audience hears the same noise they link it to what was happening at the beginning. The blinking of the lights are dramatic and it makes your attention go straight and fully to them, and then shocks you when you hear the "rattling" breath. (This is one of the noises you hear at other parts of the film).
