Evaluation Question 3...

Evaluation Question Three.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

A film distributor is a company which releases a movie to the public either through getting the film into cinemas or for home viewing on DVD’s, Blu-ray’s and Internet etc. They also plan when and where the film will be shown when it reaches the TV.
Our film would need an independent film distributor because it is a small budget feature film. A real life distributor which we might have used if we had the choice would have been ‘Entertainment in Video’ as they have distributed many films like ours, such as ‘Halloween 2’, ‘The Forth Kind’ and ‘Scream 4’.
Distributors which specialise in our genre, horror are: - Hammer film productions which are a legendary British horror film company. Some examples of small budget films which have become major successes are ‘Paranormal Activity’, ‘Night of the Living Dead’ and ‘The Blair Witch Project’. We would expect our film to go to a multiplex cinema as our film is for a mainstream audience rather than a niche market.

Part of our distribution would be through different types of marketing. Our main target audience is females under the age of 35, closely followed by males under 35 years old. Through this we were able to work out that it would benefit us most if we advertise on TV after 9pm as this is when they typically watch TV and also through YouTube.
